Witney woman raises money for best friend’s daughter after 45-minute seizures

Kelly Mercer started the GoFundMe campaign to help her best friend, Kate Squires, raise funds for her daughter, Eden, who has been living with epilepsy since the age of two.
On February 16, Eden, who is now 10, suffered two tonic-clonic seizures, which resulted in her being hospitalised overnight after receiving life-saving medication.
Eden’s mum said she “though I knew her epilepsy inside out, however, on February 16 at 6.36pm, our lives changed”.
The following three-quarters of an hour were described by Ms Squires as “the longest 45 minutes of our lives”.
She added: “She went blue and I thought she was gone. She was given life saving medication by the ambulance crew and spent the night in the hospital. I am forever grateful to them.”
Enough money has now been raised for the family to buy a seizure camera to ensure Eden’s safety, particularly at night.
The funds will cover the cost of this equipment, which will provide much-needed peace of mind and reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy.
So far, £1,864 has been raised, surpassing the £1,000 target.
Ms Mercer said she is “absolutely blown away by the generosity,” adding: “Thank so much to everyone for donating.”
