Michael Bolton has shared a sweet photo with his family a year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The American singer rose to fame in the 1980s for both his solo work and as the frontman of the rock band Blackjack.

He also wrote the 1982 hit How Am I Supposed to Live Without You for Laura Branigan, which he later recorded as a solo single.

Throughout his career Michael, 71, has sold more than 75 million records, released eight top 10 albums and two number-one singles on the Billboard charts and won six American Music Awards and two Grammy Awards.

He’s also performed with Ray Charles, Celine Dion, B.B. King and Luciano Pavarotti and last year competed on The Masked Singer US.

However earlier this year Michel announced he was taking a break from the stage after being diagnosed with a brain tumour at the end of 2023.

At the time he revealed he’d required ‘immediate surgery’ and that while it had been successful, he needed to take a temporary break from touring to ‘devote my time and energy to my recovery’.

He’s now shared a rare photo of his family on social media to mark the festive season.

‘Sending warm wishes for a holiday season filled with peace, love, and joy. May the New Year bring health, happiness, and countless moments to cherish,’ he wrote.

‘Here’s to fresh starts and beautiful moments in 2025!’ he added.

The photo showed Michael sitting on a couch with his family, with all five wearing holiday-themed pyjamas.

Sitting in front of the Christmas tree, Michael wore a black hoodie over his The Grinch themed top, accessorising with a red Santa hat.

The singer is father to three adult daughters – Isa, Holly, and Taryn – whom he shares with his ex-wife, Maureen McGuire.

When announcing needing to take a break from performing earlier this year, Michael said it was ‘always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show’.

However, he added: ‘Have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon.’

Two months later he shared a health update, saying he was ‘healing well and doing better’.

Although he had to cancel some shows two months ago due to ‘still being on my road to recovery’, Michael said he needed ‘a little more time to build back my full strength and stamina’.

‘My progress is good, and I have been able to get a little work done on a couple exciting projects that you’ll be hearing about very soon. In the meantime, know I’m so grateful for your patience and support as I get back on my feet again.’
